From England Pitches to American Fields: My Journey

My name is Deanna Cassella, and I am the founder of HAWK Analysis. My journey began in August 2017 when I joined Itawamba Community College on a soccer scholarship. Coming from Liverpool, England, it was a dream come true to play soccer in the United States. I had an incredible soccer season, contributing to the team's success and earning a place in the All State team. However, I soon realized that the soccer season in college is short, and I needed to find other passions outside of soccer.

Choosing the right college involves considering various factors that no one had told me before. These factors include the location of the college, available activities other than soccer, proximity to cities or rural areas, transportation options, offered courses, and the type of university that suits you best. After only a year in Mississippi, I found an academic path that suited me better.

From September 2018 to May 2021, I pursued a Science and Football (Soccer) undergraduate degree in my hometown. This degree allowed me to apply scientific principles to soccer, covering biomechanics, nutrition, psychology, and performance analysis to name a few areas. It was during this time that I discovered my love for the tactical aspect of the game. I graduated with first-class honors and gained valuable experience interning at Crewe Alexandra Football Club and Everton Football Club, focusing on performance analysis for academy teams.

In October 2021 to August 2022, I pursued a Master's degree in Sports Performance Analysis at the University of Chichester. Alongside my studies, I interned at Southampton FC, working with the women's team. This role was particularly exciting as it was the first-time performance analysis was introduced to the women's side. I helped alongside my supervisor to establish a performance analysis structure for the youth set up, including the U11-U19s. The degree emphasized practical performance analysis, research methods, and academic work. Fortunately, some of the assignments for this degree had practical applications that could be utilized during my internships, allowing for a beneficial overlap. Balancing the demands of my internships alongside my studies was a challenging task and required exceptional organization and time management skills.

After completing my Master's in 2022, I visited the United States to spend time with my now-husband and his family. Little did I know, he had a surprise for me. He proposed, and we got engaged! After navigating the legalities, we got married in the summer of 2022. During this time until the summer of 2023, while waiting for work authorization, I had the opportunity to reflect on my journey, from Mississippi to my internships and degrees.

It was during this reflection period i started to develop the idea for HAWK Analysis, leveraging my experience in performance analysis to specialize in producing soccer-specific highlight videos. It is my passion to help others achieve their soccer goals, and I am dedicated to providing top-quality services through HAWK Analysis.
